Politics
The No, No topics.
Ah, now we said we should avoid this topic and here you are looking at this page. What shall we do with you eh?
Politics in the democratic setting is all about consensus building and compromise. Large populations require special uniting forces framed in an ideology. Democracy is a relatively new form of government that the world had been experimenting with over the last several centuries. In many parts of the world the old style might-makes-right, where conquerors invade other lands to secure riches and taxation, has given way to a governance of the people for the people.
Politics of this new way can be said to be divided into two grand categories. There are those who believe that the smart people should rule the community and there are those who believe that the ruling of the community should be shared by everyone.
Each viewpoint has its problems and its strengths. The first category most often ends up in a might-is-right situation where physical force is used to maintain control with the end result being that those in power tend not to be the smart ones even though that is the intention in the beginning. Concentration of wealth ensues with little opportunity for the poor to change their situation.
In the 'Anyone Can Lead' category a cultural structure of tradition offers a stability that lends continuity to the community. This can break down when special interest groups infiltrate the political machinery reforming the sharing of wealth concepts into a wealth for one's self concept.
