So you want to break away from the need for chiropractic care every week or so do you?
Sometimes people with back pain find themselves in the position that the treatment they have been getting in the past for their back pain has not been tapering off to a once-a-month frequency. Some people find that at about four weeks after their last treatment, their back is sore again and they need more care. Some people need care at three weeks, and some, every two weeks. If you wish to break out of this cyclical need for pain relief, then you will need to combine several treatments together into one treatment plan.
Very little can be done about disc degeneration and arthritic joint degeneration that has already set in. Some nutritional approaches, as in Glucosamine supplements, may help a little. Spinal manipulation may also help a little. But, reoccurrence of pain is common when degeneration has reached a certain threshold.
A hidden factor in this cyclical pain may very well turn out to be the kind of food you choose to eat. Planning several types of treatments at the same time offers a good approach to this type of cyclical pain. One way you can achieve this kind of a treatment plan is by combining chiropractic care along with nutrition therapy for pain relief, deep fibre therapy for pain relief, cold laser, electricity, and mechanical massagers. Some chiropractors have special traction type tables that can also give an extra added modality to your therapy. Home prescribed strengthening and stretching exercises round out a good treatment program.
Difficult to treat cases where chronic fatigue and chronic pain in multiple sites, complicate the picture, tend to respond better to a combination approach particularly if food, as is quite common, is causing a hidden unrecognized source of tissue stress leading to increased inflammation and swelling. This link to food is generally poorly understood by health-care providers but can offer a powerful aid to the main treatment program.

Chiropractic care has long been proven effective for acute back pain and now has been proven safe and effective for chronic back pain as well. It has also been proven that adding exercise to chiropractic care improves the results. Adding dietary modification for pain relief to chiropractic care offers another method for you to help yourself. You just have to learn which foods are good for you and which are bad.
Eating foods that have oils in them that specifically make inflammation worse would be unwise. Eating foods that have oils in them that make inflammation better would be wise. Eating foods that your body reacts to, in a negative way be unwise. Eating foods that your body reacts to, in a positive way be wise. Identifying these good and bad foods is the trick.
So what do we know about foods and pain? In a nutshell we know that certain oils are used to form hormones that make pain worse. Some of these hormones are called Prostaglandins. We would not want to eat those foods. We know that certain oils are used to make other hormones that make pain better. We also know that certain proteins can make blood cell clump together. These proteins are called Lectins. This is bad because it would reduce the blood flow, and thus the oxygenation of tissues, where that reduced flow is located. This is the major reason why blood typing is done before surgery. You don't want a blood type with the wrong Lectins put into your body during transfusion. Likewise, we should not want a food with the wrong Lectins put into our blood during meals.
We know that certain proteins are very close to our own cell marker proteins and if we eat them, we will confuse our immune system. We know that certain food proteins do not break down very well in the body, for instance some dairy proteins. We know that certain dairy sugars, the lactose sugars are poorly handled by a great many people. And finally, we know that many plants, and some animals, are just plain toxic.

There are thus, at least five good reasons to be more selective as to what foods you eat when you are in pain. You will be surprised to find out that some of these bad foods are common foods that have been consumed by humans for centuries. They have just never been researched or they have been researched poorly. If you are someone in crises right now and need fast relief then modifying your food may offer you a safe and inexpensive way to help yourself.
