Subluxation
What is it?
The term subluxation, is a word that a chiropractor often uses to describe a problem in a persons spine or other joints. The term is an old term with considerable controversy attached to it. Medical professions define a subluxation as an incomplete or partial dislocation. (Dorland’s Illustrated Medical Dictionary) It is a term applied to joints. Some chiropractors make the claim that these partial dislocations, when they are found in the spine, cause neurological problems that impact the body systems. Although scientific evidence for the subluxation, as these chiropractors refer to it, is sparse, there is ample evidence that chiropractic care helps back, neck and head pain. Chiropractors argue among themselves over the mechanisms of that help.
Subluxation means a spinal joint, or some other joint in the body, is misaligned or not moving properly, when a person bends or twists.

A joint that is not moving properly is often called a fixation. This fixation, means the joint is stuck and must be manipulated, or adjusted, to free up that fixation.
Massage therapy, physiotherapy, or acupuncture will NOT fix a subluxation nor clear up a fixation.
Chiropractic spinal corrections (adjustments) will fix one of the major causes of nerve pinching and irritation. If you don't correct the CAUSE then the pain will only come back.
